Is Knowledge Enough? The Importance of Wisdom in Decision Making

Telling someone how to do something step by step is not the same thing as showing someone how to do something step by step. You can demonstrate both, tell and show someone step by step and they can still manufacture some polar opposite result of the process.

When I noticed the dry erase picture drawing board demonstrations trend, I thought it was comedy at first glance. As of lately, I had to consider, maybe that's it, some folks need knowledge spelled out in order to build that wisdom muscle.

Critical thinking and self building resources is how I acquired knowledge mostly, but hey...it's a completely different world from growing up in the 90's.

Gaining wisdom is a muscle that must be exercised and put into practice routinely.

You cannot lazy your way to wisdom. We gain wisdom as a child as early as when our folks told us "Do not touch that stove". If we touched the stove, the lesson was well learned.

"Burned, didn't it"?!...

There's the wisdom. We can build a lifetime of academia accolades, marry well, be born into privilege, land amazing careers and build successful brands but, if we do not acquire the knowledge coupled with the wisdom we will never expand beyond the 4 corners of a room.

What you also must consider and believe, age does not determine someones wisdom capacity. I could orchestrate an entire TED talk on that subject matter through infinity. Wisdom does not always lend it self with age. Expansion was my classroom.

Is it enough to have knowledge while lacking wisdom?

In my world, knowledge and wisdom go together like screw and driver.

While building logically, can you have one without the other?

Maybe a pair of shoes compare better.

If you require the left, perhaps you need the right?

No matter the trends and/or generation, I've never seen someone wear one shoe as a fashion statement.

How about you?

Lacking wisdom in decision making is costly. In business, it is a standard practice to hire SME's to do things we can't do, in relationships we use the knowledge gathered from prior partnerships to not make the same errors (if consciousness is practiced) however, it's our wisdom that guides us to know the difference between a trauma response , fight or flight response or do we proceed from a place of healed, resolved and or grace depending on the situation. Wisdom in decision making saves us time, energy and efforts.

Become a quick wisdom wizard and you will arrive at conclusions really quick.

When you gain wisdom within your decision making, you live a life with less obstacles as your perspective is shaped to see opportunity in most things.
