Do You Need A Degree ?

I wasn't going to touch this subject matter until I saw all of the ridiculous Tik Toc stitches on this degree topic. In this new age, simple things have been made complex literally

over-night. I will admit I've been told I take several of my super powers for granted. One of my super powers is that my brain operates rapidly. Give me a problem, I have a solution.

If a decision has to be made, I can make that decision in real time. Need a strategy? I can form that in real time too. Until recently I use to find myself to be most frustrated with people. I couldn't understand what took them so long to get it.

"It's not rocket science"was surely next to come out of my mouth until one of my colleagues told me, "hey you have to know what you do organically, everyone can't do that". In that very moment, all these years, I hadn't known that about myself. I had been taken it for granted until recently. I thought people were just trying to be difficult/an annoyance on purpose never considering that maybe they just didn't know how to do the task, comprehend the ask and provide a logical response that served purpose.

The topic of "do I need a degree".. I noticed strong opinions appeared to be from people who did not have degrees and very few from those who had degrees. A lot of times before I will even listen to a person, I'd qualify who is the authority saying it. We do not get that option on social media that says "authority on a subject matter only" so all kinds of people pop up with there subjective responses to a variety of topics. While this blog could be taken as subjective, it's rooted in my life and experience.

What I've seem to have noticed with these people who believe you don't need a degree is they seem to be judgmental shaming degreed people, sending the wrong messages in these minute(s) long clips, making an impression on these microwave generations, delusional and have invested in goggle university search engines in lieu of. I am not discounting that goggle has information. Just be aware, in the legal profession goggle is not primary authority in our profession .

Do I believe that college is for everyone, NO WAY! Do I believe you should go into debt for college? No WAY! Do I believe there is long term ROI on college if you've selected a specialized profession, YES! Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants and so fourth are professional specialties that require college degrees as well as advanced degrees in order to work in these professions. If you major in other studies that don't require such, that's something that you should careful research and evaluate. College shows you have some level of commitment, you are capable of learning and that you can focus and complete what you've started. College in some instances validates that you have the ability to sit still, focus & have some level of mastery on a specific subject matter called a major.

As an interdisciplinary dual studies major, I was able to customized my own degree.

Keep in mind, I was very intentional and knew what I wanted to do and be when I grew up,

I just needed the correct major match as the college I attended did not have a pre-law curriculum (the college told me they'd have it but did not and I was an out of state student). In this new age, things have been dumb down tremendously to be accommodating. After all it's great to see how people think now vs you discover their laziness while you need a brain surgery, about to lose your freedom being sentenced for a lifetime or mismanaging your funds. Learn to examine peoples resistance through their subtle rejections as a deciding factor of how they will handle what matters to you most.

Your life may depend on it!
